Stop the killing of Richard Glossip.

On May 18 the state of Oklahoma plans to execute Richard Glossip by lethal injection for a crime he did not commit.

Two independent enquiries have cast serious doubts on Mr. Glossip’s 1998 conviction, prompting Oklahoma’s Attorney General Gentner Drummond to call for his sentence to be vacated. Investigations have revealed that prosecutors repeatedly failed to turn over key evidence to the defense, destroyed crucial evidence of Mr. Glossip’s innocence, and relied on the testimony of a compromised witness. The evidence of Mr Glossip’s innocence is so strong that a bipartisan majority of Oklahoma legislators have called on Governor Kevin Stitt to spare his life.

Despite these overwhelming claims to innocence, Oklahoma’s Pardon and Parole Board denied clemency, and the state plans to murder Mr Glossip on May 18. This senseless killing would represent a grotesque and irrevocable miscarriage of justice, an affront to human decency, and an indelible stain on the very soul of Oklahoma.

We are calling on the governor to grant a 60-day stay of execution, so that pending litigation in state and federal courts can be addressed. The voice of business could make all the difference to a governor who has prioritised making Oklahoma attractive to employers and investors. . Please help prevent the killing of an innocent man.
